Northern Maryland just below the Mason Dixon line has plenty of civil war related folklore. One such story is a place nicknamed spook hill. There is a hill where people say if you stop your car and throw it into neutral, your car will roll up the hill on its own. The story is, in the civil war there was a battle in which soldiers were tring to transport cannons and were subsequently shot down while pushing them up the hill. To this day their ghosts push cars up the hill thinking they are still in battle.
The reality is the hill creates an optical illusion. It actually has a slight downgrade, despite appearing to grade upwards. Just a silly local legend. _________________ IIIIINNNNTTEEERRNNNEEEEEEEET!!

That's an awesome ghost story. I heard a simmilar story, but it was ghsots of a bunch of kids on a school bus that stalled on train trakcs killing them all. So if a car stops on the tracks the ghosts of the kids will push it over the tracks. |
